Page under construction 7/5/2007. B & W wording to follow. In 1932, Guinness produced their first illustrated postcards - the UK sets were printed by two companies, Sanders Phillips & Co. Ltd., and Waterlow & Sons Ltd., both based in London. The Irish issue was printed by Alex. Thom & Co Ltd., Dublin. It was a wonderful collection comprising three sets of six and each set of six came in their own special edition envelope. Note: A small number of additional cards, issued with an alphabetical suffix, have been included in the gallery. In 1949, Guinness produced another collection of postcards comprising three sets of six (Alice, Animal and Guinness for Strength.) Each set of six once more came in their own special edition envelope. The UK issue was once again printed by Sanders Phillips & Co. Ltd., London and the Irish Issue by two companies - Alex. Thom & Co Ltd., Dublin and Wood Printing Works Ltd., Dublin. Do you know of a postcard that should be in the Gallery? Full members are very welcome to submit postcards for inclusion to the Galleries. The GCC has provided the facility for you to send us your picture(s). |
