Some confusion exists as to why some GUINNESS glasses use a buff coloured lettering and others are in gold. Quite simply, those printed in buff are produced in Ireland and those in gold are from the UK.

The Brewhouse at St. James's Gate, Dublin has a capacity of 16 brews per day, each producing the equivalent of 250,000 pints of GUINNESS giving a total daily production of 4 million pints! GUINNESS is also brewed in 52 other countries around the world bringing the daily consumption to over 10 million pints.

St James Gate had an extensive internal narrow-gauge railway system some 8 miles long including a special 'corkscrew' tunnel. Besides transporting raw materials and other goods, the railway had special cars for visitors to the Brewery to ride in.

There was great secrecy (for commercial reasons) when The Park Royal Brewery was being built - leading to a newspaper report in June 1934 that the new factory was to produce explosives from pototoes!

Arthur Guinness was born in 1725 but the exact date of his birth is unknown. GUINNESS Ireland have invented a birthday for him....24th September.

Robert Louis Stevenson took cases of GUINNESS to the Samoan Islands with him while he wrote Treasure Island. No wonder it proved a best seller!

Draught GUINNESS contains 10 calories per fluid ounce (about the same as skimmed milk).

The 1934 Girder poster was so poular the people started asking for a 'Girder' in pubs, meaning a GUINNESS.
