How long have you been collecting Chris?
About a year now, but I've enjoyed Guinness for many years.
What made you start collecting Guinness memorabilia?
No details provided.
What is the popularity of Guinness where you live?
I wouldn't say it is very popular here at all. Perhaps on St. Patricks day or a once in a while culture night for yuppies.
Do you have contact with other collectors of Guinntiques?
Only over the Internet, I have yet to find anyone as enthusiastic about Guinness and collection Guinness items in the area. I've been to almost every antique dealer in Maryland in search of any Guinntiques I can find.
Describe your local pub details and nightlife.

There are a few Irish pubs in the area. I definately cannot gauge authenticity as I have yet to enjoy Ireland in person. The pub I frequent the most is not an Irish pub at heart though but I think the atmosphere would be the same in a true pub in Ireland.

Fado, located in DC is the opidomy of quick cheap buck off an amazing poorly imitated culture. This bar is frequented by 20 something yuppies that drink Guinness on occasion to drink it as a status and not for the amazing beer it is. Loud crowed atmospher, poor mix of Irish music and unpersonable people. I think if someone from Ireland visited this bar they would vomit.

Castlebay, Annopolis MD. Small, inviting and friendly. I'v gone here only a couple times since it is a bit longer drive then my favorite little pub down the street from me. Friendly staff, good food and not much else. First time I went the Air Force Navy game was on TV and a bunch of people were in there watching the game so I don't know about their music selection. Again hard to say on the atmosphere because of
the game crowd. I WAS THE ONLY ONE DRINKING GUINNESS AS WELL!

Slauncher Baltimore Inner Harbor MD, boring tourist crowd. Friendly staff and average at best food. Inviting warm atmosphere asthetically speaking but not much more. Has a "club" up stairs with a tropical theme, very confusing. Inner harbor is a HUGE tourist spot in B-more MD and I guess it's more profitable to appeal to a large demographic. Good times don't pay the bills.

Other pubs I will be checking out here in MD are An Poitin Stil, Sean Donlon's, Ri-Ra, Dougherty's Irish Pub, J. Patrick's Irish Pub, Mick O' Shea's Irish Pub & Restaurant, Flanagan's Irish Pub, Shenanigan's
Irish Pub, Mrs. O'Leary's Restaurant & Irish Pub and more! I'll keep you all posted!

Are Guinness promotions run in these establishments?
The ones I have visited I didn't see any type except the adverts on the wall.
Please describe your own collection.
I have a wide varity of items now. Guinness Irish Flag, Miniature Guinness bottles and glasses, Guinness Extra Cold glasses (no longer in production), Guinnes Breo glasses and mats (no longer in production), Stone Carlton Ware Guinness bottles with wax stamp, Guinness stout can from 70's, Guinness promotional sand paper with "For a smooth finish" on the back of the paper (my second favorite item), A letter from Aurther Guinness to Shakelton (I believe Irish head of state type) (my FAVORITE item). And much more growing everyday.
Additional Info.
Check out www.wfuv.org website for an amazing 4 hour broadcast of Irish music. I heard the station while driving to see family in North Jersey and New York on 90.1 FM.

Thanks very much Chris.
