How long have you been collecting Mick?
Many years.
What made you start collecting Guinness memorabilia?
No info provided.
What is the popularity of Guinness where you live?
Low - but we're a growing segment of the population.
Do you have contact with other collectors of Guinntiques?
Yes ..as a founder Member of the Guinness Appreciation
Society - where we have a few 'unofficial' collectors - like myself !! |
Describe your local pub details and nightlife.
Adelaide has a few 'Irish Pubs' - the two that I frequent most are
The Brecknock Hotel & PJ O'Briens. Both are fairly quiet Monday to Thursday but 'liven up' for the weekends - The Brecknock's live Music centres around the traditional 'Folk & Ballads' ... PJ's is a bit more 'contemporary' ( for the younger crowd ). |
Are Guinness promotions run in these establishments?
Yes.
Please describe your own collection.
I have limited valuables on the collection front - some tea
towels - traditional Guinness Badge & Gilroy Prints .. an old 'Guinness Leprechaun' Plaque (Plaster / Painted) a Gilroy 'Tin Plate', some cans , bottles, beer mats , promotional posters and a 'heap of Tee Shirts'. |
Any other info?.
Had my first pint of Guinness @ 20 (1974) & I've never looked back (prior to that I considered it an 'old mans' drink !!!) - I have 4 children. The 3 older ones (2 girls 1 boy) are 'Part Time' Guinness Drinkers - (the girls have converted the boyfriends also!!!)... the youngest turns 18 in March ... we'll test her out on St. Patricks Day !!! |
Thank-you Malachy.
