At the last page update there are some 1375 UK & Eire GUINNESS beermats and 1050 GUINNESS export mats out there to collect!! If you're starting a collection, then your first port of call has to be joining the British Beermat Collector's Society.

The BBCS was founded in 1960 with the aim of furthering and encouraging the interests, knowledge and activities of tegestologists (beermat collectors!) everywhere. Currently there are over four hundred members. The Society regularly organises local meetings all over the U.K., where members can meet and exchange mats.

Recently issued mats can be bought for a few pence, semi-rare mats for a few pounds each and a number of older/rarer mats are sold by auction. There is also an annual two day meeting called the 'National' which brings together several hundred members from all round the world.

Details of all meetings are published in the newsletter which members receive monthly. It also contains information about newly issued GUINNESS coasters, addresses of members who have mats to supply or exchange, and articles on subjects of interest to collectors.
